DUNLOP TRAILMAX TR91

The Trailmax TR91 has been specifically engineered for the growing number of riders who want new experiences - the kind that aren't always found on tarmac roads. It delivers precise handling, confident traction and long-distance comfort across a wide range of surfaces, along with low wear-rates.

JLB (Jointless Belt) construction, specific block design and specially developed compounds all culminate to produce this new cutting edge tyre.

“Riders should have confidence in their tyres to take them wherever they want to go and that is the ethos for the Trailmax TR91” said Lisa Faulkner, Dunlop Motorcycle Manager.

“By using JLB construction we are able to produce optimum stability and shock absorption which delivers the results when riding on road. This technology mixed with a specific block design is what enables outstanding performance both on and off road” said Lisa.

The tyres will be available in January 2010 in the following sizes:

FRONT                 REAR

100/90 x 19         130/80 x 17
110/80 x 19         140/80 x 17

PIRELLI MOTO ... DAKAR 2009: .... ENDURO SCORPION RALLY
20.01.2009

PIRELLI MOTO ... DAKAR 2009: .... ENDURO SCORPION RALLY

Pirelli Moto Takes Over in Dakar 2009: 1st and 2nd Overall with Scorpion Rally
2009 Pirelli's debut in the Dakar as a supplier to the official KTM factory teams was nothing short of dominating, with the new SCORPION RALLY tyre capturing the 1st and 2nd positions on the podium with riders Marc Coma and Cyril Despres. This off-road rally tyre was developed together with KTM in preparation for this year's Dakar. Out of a field of 235 riders, seven riders chose to have support from Pirelli and out of these seven, three riders finished in the top 7 positions overall. KTM Repsol rider Marc Coma (SPA) and Red Bull KTM rider Cyril Despres (FRA) were fiercely competitive in this 31st edition of the Dakar, considered to be the most difficult rally race in the world, which this year moved 10,000 km away to South America.

Two years of development on the new SCORPION RALLY tyre, made specifically for rally application and born from the winning heritage of the Scorpion product family, has resulted in a product worthy of such a challenging race. This new tyre underwent testing and collaboration with the best rally riders and racing teams, and Dakar 2009 was chosen for its launch due to the event's popular following and demanding terrain. The innovative and complementary structure helped guarantee outstanding performance and high resistance to fatigue and puncture. Furthermore, the compound and knobs layout is designed to provide great traction and grip for the difficult terrains that are encountered in even most demanding rallies such as Dakar.

Pirelli Tyre would like to thank Marc Coma, Cyril Despres the entire KTM team and its riders for managing the uncertainty of change, their excellent preparations prior to the race, and for believing that Pirelli could produce a winning rally tire. From the positive feedback received during the testing sessions, to the open communication throughout the Dakar, it was clear that KTM and Pirelli were a committed team. Pirelli and KTM look forward to all the excellent racing results the partnership will bring as well as the strong and positive benefits which two sport-focused companies will inevitably find.

RALLY won 7 of 14 stages, and gained a total of 1:52 hrs over the competition. These riders tackled 5,652 km of specials from Buenos Aires to Valparaíso and back again, during which they encountered a race environment unique to this new location, with notable places like Terra Del Fuego, the Andes Mountains and the Atacama Desert, said to be the world's driest desert. Dakar 2009's extreme diversity and newly charted territory was especially challenging for the teams, the riders and technicians to make the ideal setup (regarding tyres, compounds, mousse, tubes, etc.,) as the environment was completely foreign from previous African Dakar races.

Notwithstanding the excellent performance of the top two riders, Marc Coma's teammate Jordi Viladoms (SPA), who is always a perfect example of fine team spirit and consistency, finished 7th out of 235 riders and even took home his own win in Stage 10. Pirelli rider Rodrigues Filho (BRA) of Team Honda Brazil rode near the front for the whole race behind the pack of large displacement bikes, putting his 450cc bike in the 12th spot for the Dakar overall, and 3rd amongst bikes in the 450cc class.

TIRE WATCH - REIFENDRUCK - KONTROLLSYSTEM FÜR MOTORRADREIFEN
15.12.2008

TIRE WATCH - REIFENDRUCK - KONTROLLSYSTEM FÜR MOTORRADREIFEN

299,00 € / 229,00 €       new Specialprice 199,00€ - buy now >>

BRIDGESTONE INTRODUCES NEW MX TIRES M202/M204 AND M603/M604
24.09.2008

BRIDGESTONE INTRODUCES NEW MX TIRES M202/M204 AND M603/M604 Bridgestone introduce the newly developed Bridgestone-brand M203/M204 soft terrain and M603/M604 hard terrain tires. These tires will replace the current successful M201/M202 soft terrain and M601/M602 hard terrain tires in the marketplace.

Prototype versions of these new tires were developed and tested by top AMA factory teams in Supercross, Motocross and off-road racing, capturing a dominant majority of race wins and championships. With this data, and building on the proven performance of the combination, Bridgestone tire engineers have fine-tuned casing constructions and tread design patterns to increase durability, widen the range of soil applications and increase cornering performance on the new M203/M204 soft terrain and M603/M604 hard terrain tires.
Using new lug patterns, rubber compounds and tire constructions, the new directional M203 front block pattern provides tremendous grip with stability under maximum braking. The new block pattern also gives advanced controllability & reliable contact feel at any lean angle in the corners. The M204 rear tire provides solid side grip and traction on wide range of soil with improved slide control even in the tightest corners.

The M203 front will be available in five different sizes and the M204 rear will be available in eight sizes.
Fronts are 90/100-21, 80/100-21, 70/100-19, 70/100-17 and 60/100-14.
Rears are 120/80-19, 110/90-19, 100/90-19, 110/100-18, 100/100-18, 90/100-16, 90/100-14 and 80/100-12.

Derived from top Supercross racing technology, the new M603/M604 enables riders to utilize the machine power to its maximum. The front M603 newly adopted mid-camber basin (hollow between blocks) gives flexibility to tire tread without dropping stiffness of the block. This enables each block to adapt to the ground surface, which gives amazing balance of lean grip and straight drive stability.

The Rear M604 provides advanced grip and traction. In combination with improved bump absorption, the M604 gives riders confidence on hard pack like never before.
The M603 front will be available in two different sizes and the M604 rear will be available in six sizes.
Fronts are 90/100-21 and 80/100-21.
Rears are 120/80-19, 110/90-19, 110/80-19, 100/90-19, 110/100-18 and 100/100-18.

NEW MOTORCYCLE TYRE FOM PIRELLI - SCORPION TRAIL
01.09.2008

NEW MOTORCYCLE TYRE FOM PIRELLI - SCORPION TRAIL

Thanks to its winning experience in off-road with the Scorpion products since 1980 and its knowhow on road tyres, Pirelli is re-entering the enduro street segment with the new SCORPION TRAIL. To obtain a breakthrough product, Pirelli has selected this tyre with an intensive series of real condition tests. The main aim is to provide a multi-purpose tyre tested in the toughest conditions: in different temperature ranges from the North Cape of Africa to Dakar, on long distance runs - collecting and working out on road data from a 6,500 mile route, or in the extreme conditions of the African desert with a rally in Tunisia.

Product Identity

- The Enduro-Street segment was born during the 1980’s when BMW GS’s had started to win the most important African rallies, using resistant motorbikes with a 21” enduro tyre on front.  A great step ahead comes with Ducati that, following the success of supermotard, at the beginning of 2000 has introduced the new Multistrada: a bike designed to handle the many turns and conditions of mountain passes. Partner to this revolution has been Pirelli providing the first on-road sporty fitment 120/70-17” and 180/55-17” with a uniquely aggressive tread: the Scorpion SYNC. SCORPION TRAIL is the new generation tyre able to answer the requirements of this progressive segment: handling and comfort, off-road traction, high speed stability, grip in all conditions.

Product Anatomy: the tread design - The tread pattern has been designed with an entirely new concept: SCORPION TRAIL is the first product in the segment covering the entire tyre revolution with just 4 repetitions of the design. These 4 pitches allow a long stretched design. The tread pattern is distinctive and aggressive as direct result of the Pirelli experience in supersport tyres. The tread design is derived from an innovative and aesthetically pleasing combination of blocks typical of enduro and slick like areas of supersport tyres. Off-road appeal is the result of cuts on the shoulder, which guarantee traction and control even turning on dirt roads. Good drainage and aquaplaning behavior are ensured by geometry of the grooves, in particular the profile of rill (?) are in variable wide, “water jets”, which can handle also standing water. Using some of the winning elements of the World Champion Scorpion MX range, where knobs layout have a V shape to give traction and stability while braking, the SCORPION TRAIL adopts a V shaped foot print with the main edge working on lose soil to assure traction in all conditions while the two big blocks placed in the center ensure on-road high performance and stability.

Structure - To guarantee the maximum flexibility the SCORPION TRAIL comes in two different structures:
· X-ply to provide a tyre able to support motorcycles with less power and more off-road attitude
· Radial to support the power of modern Enduro touring bikesThe Enduro-Street segment was born during the 1980’s when BMW GS’s had started to win the most important African rallies, using resistant motorbikes with a 21” enduro tyre on front. SCORPION TRAIL is the new generation tyre able to answer the requirements of this progressive segment: handling and comfort, off-road  raction, high speed stability, grip in all conditions.
The front tyre, thanks to the 0° steel belt, does not present any stand up tendency giving to the rider full control and  recision in curves even under critical situations. The disposition of steel belts all round the profile, thick on the shoulder and thin on the center, called “three zone scheme A-B-A”, provides straight line stability at high speed and maximum precision in curves. Thanks to the controlled distinctive deformation of the foot print area at high load the stability increases during braking. All the main benefit of the X-ply and radial structures are preserved in the mixed fitment: front conventional and rear radial are combined to obtain the maximum performance and are required on many important bikes such as the Honda TransAlp.

Compound - Different compounds for different applications, differentiation of front and rear compounds, fillers and reinforcing elements tailored on different structures: this is the winning element to reach the ultimate performance. Different compounds have been tailored on tyre structure according to the typical usage of the bike fitted. Motorcycles fitting radial tyres are really powerful and heavy, especially when fully loaded with passenger and suitcases. In most instances, the full load rests on rear leaving the front unloaded.

The front tyre compound is designed to solve this problem assuring more safety feeling and high speed stability.
The rear compound is characterised by 70% of Silica to ensure good wet grip and fast warm -up assuring traction on cold and damp road surfaces and in a very wide range of weather conditions.

The conventional sizes of the SCORPION TRAIL have a twin -layer or four-ply diagonal carcass. This soft and stable construction is continuously proving its worth with enduro motorcycles, and guarantees excellent driving performance. The SCORPION TRAIL radial sets has a 0° belted radial structure both on rear and on front, related with a lightweight carcass to promote ease of handling and road holding at high speeds. The result is a stable tyre that distributes forces uniformly to the road, optimizing the contact patch in every condition.
